- Adding modules in highest positions in Generic EH-BS racks caused crash

Notes for x64 systems:

Support for 16-bit (DOS) software has been removed by Microsoft in all x64 versions of Windows.

This will affect the possibility to handle old DOS software Hitachi projects (menu File "Open Actsip-H (*.HPG)" and "Save As Actsip-H (*.hpg)"), these functions rely on 16-bit software modules and are therefore not available in x64 systems.

These functions can however be considered as obsolete so this should not be a major issue. If Actsip-H functions are critical, a workaround exists (running ActWin in Windows virtual PC "XP mode").

2006-05-05 ActWin 3.52C

News:

- Importing symbols by Copy/Paste from other software (e.g. Excel) is now supported
- Improved symbol export function (e.g. to Excel), possibility to select symbol fields to include in the copy

The import function is available in the main symbol window and also in the Module Symbols/Addresses window.

To import symbols via the main symbol window:

1. Prepare column data in the source document (e.g. Excel) with 2 or 3 columns: Name + PLC address + optionally comment

E.g:

"Temp" "R123" "comment"
"Data" "WR1"
"Temp2" "R234" "comment2"

If the data is prepared using texteditor or similar please note that the TAB separated format is used.

2. Select data in the source document and select the Copy command

3. In ActWin, make the main symbol window the active window and paste (using menu or Ctrl-V)

Then, in Actwin, there will first be an internal check that all data in the columns are valid and if not, there will be an opportunity for the user to abort and correct. After that, the input will be scanned for any name or address conflicts and if any are found, the user will be prompted for the desired action (insert, insert using another name, skip, abort etc). After all conflicts are resolved the symbols will be inserted in the project.

In all steps during this process the user has the option to cancel the operation and if so, the import is aborted without any modifications of the project, this behaviour will make the import function easier and more safe to use.

To import via the Module Symbols/Addresses window:

1. Prepare column data in the source document (e.g. Excel) with 1 or 2 columns: Name + optionally comment

E.g:

"Temp" "comment"
"Data"
"Temp2" "comment2"

2. Select data in the source document and select the Copy command

3. In ActWin, right click at the desired hardware module and select Symbols/Addresses. Then select the desired address area and select (by clicking the leftmost column) a row to define the plc address to use as a starting address. Then paste using menu or Ctrl-V.

The imported symbol names will then be applied (in the same order as they appear in the source data) to the range of symbols defined by the starting address. Currently no "holes" in the imported data are allowed.

Any conflicts will be resolved in the same way as when using the main symbol window as described above. Also, if the process for any reason is cancelled half way, the project will not be affected.

Limitations of the symbol import functions:

- Import is supported in offline programming mode only
- Import is supported into main program only (not into function blocks or macros)
- Support for timer/counter symbols is limited, parameters like preset and timebase has to be entered manually if timer/counter symbols are imported

Please note that for timer/counter symbols only the boolean symbol can be imported (not the "current value" symbol xxx.TC). This is because the current value symbols are auto generated by ActWin.

The timer/counter limitation does not apply to import from another ActWin, in this case all information is included in the imported data.

PLC is reduced

Corrected:

- Problem when programming PLC:s with large memory and/or slow flash memory.

The time required by some PLC:s to clear and write program memory could in some cases exceed the
timeout in the driver, causing the operation to abort with error message: "SendTaskCode failed
with error code 0xE8. Receive timeout". This problem affects mainly PLC:s with large program
memory and/or slow flash memory.

This problem was introduced in driver versions 3.15.0.202 that were included in ActWin release 3.52.

- Problem when reading projects from PLC where CTD coils was used either without corresponding
CTU coil or when the corresponding CTU coil was defined below the CTD coil in the project.
Reading such a project caused the CTD coils to lose their address and appear as empty coils.

- The Actwin user interface could under some circumstances be slower than normal, the problem
occured when certain other programs were running on the same computer (for example Lotus Notes).

- Write Occupation was called unnecessarily during Set value in PLC, Data memory transfer
